Polonus school offers a wide range of Polish courses and levels to suit your abilities and to ensure successful understanding and perfection of the Polish language while enjoying Poland's unique climate, atmosphere and diversions. School offers appropriate courses for all ages, interests and language skill levels. Polonus is the entire year open.

Our purpose is to introduce students to our customs, traditions, and lifestyles in Poland through the Polish language. The Polish language skills and cultural knowledge that you acquire will make your stay in Lodz more enjoyable. Our School will prepare you to participate in everyday language communication or to start learning, studying or working in Poland. Polonus School's program is entirely linked with teaching Polish as foreign (starting from level A0) at various levels of proficiency: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2.

• At A1 level a person understands and can use basic phrases and expressions related to the daily needs, formulate questions used in private life, make basic social contacts, use honorifics, know how to write familiar words, simple phrases and also use a basic vocabulary. Achieving A2 level ivolves the ability to understand the main contents and intentions contained in spoken and written texts (daily life, family, leisure time) and use the language of communication in typical situations, while maintaining the basic variety of official and unofficial language.

• At B1 level a person has the ability to understand the main contents and intentions contained in spoken and written texts (daily life, family, school, travel, work) and the ability to communicate in various situations of everyday life. A student can independently describe simple events, narrate, tell about yourself, about the plans and dreams and write invitation, announcement and greetings. At B2 level the learner understands the content and intentions contained in written texts and spoken, moving general subjects, both concrete and abstract. Moreover, s/he can write longer articles on various topics and speak smoothly and spontaneously.
• proficiency level (C1, C2)read more
• Level C1 gives the students a firm grasp of Polish grammar. They are taught to function adequately in everyday situations and to participate in Polish conversations. On this level specialized Polish is introduced. The students are prepared to speak and write on specialized topics and to understand specialized Polish. Level C2 aims to teach students individualized linguistic behavior in all communicative situations and a full range of Polish language structures. The students are also taught to write longer essays and compositions.

• Specialist teaching is a variety of specialized business and professional courses, including language teaching and the language of general specialist (eg. military language, the construction, transport, trade, tourism, hospitality, finance, management). Specialist teaching is a great offer for all who wish to work in Poland.

• Directional teaching is an offer for people who want to learn or study in Poland. 9-months courses prepare foreigners to study in Poland. The course includes teaching general language and the language necessary to study (humanistic studies, economics, medicine, sciences). The degree of knowledge of the language gained during the course helps foreigners pass the qualification tests, organized by Polish universities in the recruitment process.

• Some courses for children and young people are based on the achievements of speech therapy which helps children better learn pronunciation of Polish sounds. Teaching pronunciation with exercises of speech therapy concerns music and movement exercises, exercising with organs of speech, singing songs and exercising specific sounds.

WHAT MARKS US OUT

Our classes include hours of grammar and hours of practice, including: conversation, writing, listening as well as activities outside the school. Classes are dedicated to practicing your Polish language through different activities such as reading, debate, discussion, analysis or critique of a specific topic. Students can also use this time for practice in real-life situations using practical vocabulary eg. purchasing groceries from the market, ordering items off a menu, going to the bank etc.

The advantages of Polonus School are also weekly and monthly courses which are organized on request: the program and the length of this course can be tailored to individual needs. They allow the listeners to master Polish quickly. They are an ideal solution for all who need to acquire Polish at any selected level in a short period of time. Weekly or monthly courses can be extended to achieve a higher language level.

Polonus School also conducts 5-months and 9-months courses, which give the possibility of education in tandem, i.e. lessons are taught alternately by qualified teachers of Polish as a foreign language (Native Speakers).

The courses are conducted in two shifts: morning (9.00 a.m. - 2.00 p.m.) and afternoon (3.00 p.m. - 8.00 p.m). The shifts and hours of the lessons depend on the availability of listeners and should be agreed before the education.

Polonus School conducts individual and group teaching. Small language groups: 2-persons, 3-persons or 4-8-persons are the advantage of the School. The courses are conducted in classrooms or at customer premises (commuting Native Speakers).

OUR SCHOOL

Polish courses are conducted in a properly prepared classrooms with modern teaching aids and multimedia. Polonus School provides listeners with individual teaching materials and during the course (optional, at the request of students) organizes tours in Lodz and outdoor courses such as shopping, visiting a bank, office and post office.

METHODS OF TEACHING

Polonus School was created for people who want to learn Polish and achieve any required level of proficiency. For this purpose the School has various methods and teaching techniques, based on the communicative approach (language in use).

In Polonus School everybody can find a course for themselves:

• children, young people, students, adults,
• individuals wishing to learn Polish for professional reasons,
• individuals wishing to learn Polish to study in Poland,
• companies wishing to educate their staff.

Polonus School offers courses:

• individual and group,
• basic and intensive,
• weekly, monthly, 5-months and 9-months.

The main purpose of Polonus School is to provide its learners with teaching techniques that help the listeners to gain more language skills from first lessons. To eliminate interference in everyday communication the School puts special emphasis on pronunciation, speaking skills and understanding. Our efforts are focused on the formation of adequate knowledge about Polish which will allow the learners to discuss different topics in everyday situations. It is very important to build sentences and expression adequate to the situation.

BEFORE THE COURSE

Candidates write test that is free of charge. Taking into account their level of Polish and native alphabet they are enrolled in various groups. At the beginner level courses no qualifications are required.

AFTER THE COURSE

Listeners write the final test and receive a diploma of Polonus School confirming language proficiency and final statement about the progress of the course, voter participation and progress achieved.
